Lonesome Rhode Island Christmas

This holiday ballad was written and sung by Cassie Dailey. The artistic rendering of Green Hill’s middle beach was created by John Parsaie. The music was recorded December 2020, during the time of the COVID-19 pandemic when families and loved ones in Green Hill, Greater Rhode Island, the country and the world were separated from one another.

Lyrics

No one would expect a year so dark to feel jolly,
But I can’t help but dream of mistletoe and holly.
The weather doesn’t fit my white Christmases of old,
But wrapped up in your arms I know we’ll fight off the cold.

The road are slick, the snow won’t stick, the fog keeps rolling in,

It’s a lonesome Rhode Island Christmas.
With the ocean frothy white.
We’re far apart from all our loved ones,
But here with you by the fire still feels right.

The seashells all around can’t outshine the snowflakes.
And I can’t help but crave the cutout cookies my mom bakes.
The gulls will still take flight amidst the cold ocean spray,
But if I squint enough it looks like Santa’s sleigh.

The boots that line the doorway are caked with sand, not snow.

It’s a lonesome Rhode Island Christmas.
With the ocean frothy white.
We’re far apart from all our loved ones,
But here with you by the fire still feels right.

Yeah this year it might feel different.
There’s a dim to the holiday glow.
Won’t get everything on my wish list,
But any Christmas with you takes me home.
Any Christmas with you takes me home.

Merry Christmas Green Hill!
