Can’t cover as much ground as you once did but unwilling to tame your inner athlete? Then Pickleball might be just the sport for you. Right now, Pickleball is sweeping the nation as a fast growing sport and can be played by just about anyone.
What makes Pickleball so great?
- It’s FUN
- It’s TERRIFIC EXERCISE
- It’s SOCIAL
- It’s COMPETITIVE
- It’s a MULTIGENERATIONAL GAME that brings families together.
Invented almost 50 years ago, Pickleball is a racquet sport that blends attributes from badminton, ping pong and tennis. Until yesterday, I’d never heard of it! But thanks to Bill Conlin’s introduction of the sport at yesterday’s Green Hill Civic Association Meeting [GHCA], I’m now in the camp with those who would love to see the sport welcomed in our neighborhood.
The Tennis Courts managed by the Green Hill Civic Association can potentially serve double duty for fun and recreation. In fact, they could breathe new life into GHCA’s Tennis Membership program which is welcoming members! With pending plans to resurface and update the courts sometime this summer, we presently have the ideal opportunity to add the pickleball lines to one of our existing courts. That means that Green Hill players will have the option of playing either Pickleball or Tennis.
If you missed yesterday’s GHCA meeting, but would like to lend your voice to support the initiative for bringing Pickleball to Green Hill, reach out to a member of the Green Hill Civic Association.
